Cellexus partner with Verder to upgrade bioreactor systems

Cellexus have partnered with Castleford-based Verder Liquids to provide pumps to be used for the acid / base pump, included as standard with the CellMaker Plus and Low Flow bioreactor systems.

The Verder pump is one of two options for users to control the pH balance inside the bioreactor bag. This pump allows the CellMaker to inject acids or alkali from their reservoir directly into the bioreactor bag by manual or automated operation.

The other option for pH control is CO2 injection, and we allow our users to choose the best configuration for their laboratory and processes.

From observations on client sites, and feedback from clients, we realised the previous pump wasn’t best fulfilling the requirements of their users. It required fiddly tube changes and the components were from two different suppliers which needed additional work to build together.

The Mini-Load pump supplied by Verder was selected because of the size, quality, RPM ranges and pump head/motor integrations. The pump was set to run at 7rpm which was the perfect speed to provide the best results for our users. The compact design and easy maintenance of the pump makes for simple tube changes in just a few seconds, reducing downtime and making it extremely user friendly. As an added bonus, the pump is aesthetically pleasing and coincidentally matches Cellexus’ brand colours.

Technical manager Brian Wales from Cellexus said “I have had fantastic support from Neil at Verder, who is both technically minded and hands on. He has also helped me find the best solution for our problem and is only ever a phone call away for support.”

CEO Gavin Hands from Cellexus, said: “We are continually impressed by Verder, and are happy to have found not only a solution to our problem, but a key partnership for our business. We are continually improving the CellMaker bioreactor system, and these new pumps help scientists get their bioreactor up and running quicker than ever
